Rana Sanaullah, former Interior Minister and a leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), responded to comments made by the current caretaker security head, Sarfraz Bugti. Bugti had suggested that if Nawaz Sharif isn’t granted bail upon his return to Pakistan on October 21, he might face arrest at the airport, similar to the 2018 incident involving Nawaz and his daughter Maryam.
Sanaullah criticized Bugti for his remarks, cautioning him about the potential consequences, citing the example of former interior minister Sheikh Rashid. Sanaullah emphasized that such statements can be detrimental to the country and its people and advised Bugti to focus on his official duties instead of using Nawaz Sharif for political gains.
Sanaullah also stressed that the people will ultimately determine Nawaz Sharif’s fate on October 21, not the interior minister.
PML-N Information Secretary Marriyum Aurangzeb echoed similar sentiments, urging Bugti to uphold the dignity expected of his political position and to refrain from commenting on Nawaz Sharif’s travel plans.”
