On Thursday, the Evacuee Trust Property Board took action to seal Lal Haveli, the former residence of ex-interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed in Rawalpindi.
This operation was carried out in the early hours of the morning, with the presence of officials from the Punjab police and the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). According to Deputy Administrator Asif Khan, the property had been unlawfully occupied by Sheikh Rashid and his brother, as they failed to provide any valid documentation pertaining to Lal Haveli.
Asif Khan informed the media that Lal Haveli has been entirely sealed, given that it falls within the original D158 unit. He further explained that the board chairman had issued the order to seal the property due to the inadequacy of the documents submitted by Sheikh Rashid and his brother. Security personnel have been stationed outside the premises.
Sheikh Rashid Shafiq, the nephew of Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, has decided to challenge the decision to seal Lal Haveli in the Lahore High Court.
